ഇന്ത്യൻ കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് പ്രകാരം, തെലങ്കാന, റായലസീമ, ഉത്തര കർണാടക, മധ്യ മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര, വിദർഭ, മറാഠ്വാഡ, ഛത്തീസ്ഗഢ്, മധ്യപ്രദേശ്, ഒഡീഷ, ജാർഖണ്ഡ്, പാശ്ചാത്യ രാജസ്ഥാൻ എന്നീ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ ഏപ്രിൽ 20 വരെ ചൂട് തരംഗം തുടരും. ഈ കാലയളവിൽ പകൽ താപനില സാധാരണയേക്കാൾ 4 മുതൽ 5 ഡിഗ്രി സെൽഷ്യസ് വരെ കൂടുതലായിരിക്കും.

കാലാവസ്ഥ വകുപ്പ് പറയുന്നതനുസരിച്ച്, സമതല പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ താപനില 40 ഡിഗ്രി കടക്കുകയോ സാധാരണയിൽ നിന്ന് 4.5 ഡിഗ്രി ഉയരുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ ‘ഹീറ്റ് വേവ്’ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കും. തീരപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ 37 ഡിഗ്രിയും മലപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ 30 ഡിഗ്രിയും അതിന്റെ പരിധിയാണ്.
